Through discipline and perseverance, and blessed with God-given musical talent, Pastor Patrinell “Pat” Wright created a community choir in Seattle’s Central District, the largest and oldest African American neighborhood in Washington State. Under her directorship, the Total Experience Gospel Choir traveled around the world and served as a source of strength, support, encouragement, and inspiration for its audiences as well as its members, many of whom were African American children.
Pat Wright’s legendary drive, deep faith, generosity, compassion, and uncompromising service to truth have earned her the title of matriarch and musical icon in Seattle’s black community.
Using interviews of current and former choir members, recordings of live performances, and archival footage and photographs, this feature-length music documentary tells the story of the Total Experience Gospel Choir since its founding in 1973 by Pat Wright. “Patrinell” is a story is about the power of gospel music to inspire, heal, empower, and unite people across barriers of race, language, and religion.
